Another Thursday, another amazing Queendom episode.
At the beginning of this week’s episode we saw the rest of the girls, that is (G)I-DLE, Lovelyz and Oh My Girl go through the process of choosing a song to cover. To remind you, (G)I-DLE had to choose a Park Bom song and Lovelyz and Oh My Girl each other’s.
(G)I-DLE’s leader Soyeon seemed a bit stressed out, saying that they had to outdo their last stage this week. If you remember what their first stage looked like, you know that that isn’t as easy and simple as it seems – their first stage was out of this world good.
The girls had trouble choosing a song because, according to them, Park Bom has too many good songs to chose from. One thing they all agreed on, though, is recreating Park Bom’s hairstyle from the era they end up choosing.
You can see the girls’ outfits and hairstyles in their Twitter post below. Yuqi is the one with the original hairstyle.
Each and every one of them looks amazing, but damn, Yuqi just keeps getting cuter.
The first to perform were Oh My Girl with “Destiny”.
Their version of the song was unrecognizable in the best way possible, not that the original is not good. From the moment they appeared on stage in those beautiful hanboks, we were mesmerized. They gave the song a very traditional feel which worked surprisingly well. The girls looked and sounded like absolute angels. The song was mellow and soft and almost… and then Mimi came and smacked us in the face with that rap! Okay Mimi, we see you, we hear you… And that dance break towards the end was hypnotizing. The girls outdid themselves this time.
Next up were (G)I-DLE who eventually decided to cover 2ne1’s “Fire”. Before their performance they were visibly nervous. Minnie explained this by saying that they don’t want to disappoint their sunbaenim Park Bom.
The only disappointing thing about this is that it was over so soon. These girls… I mean. Speechless. Do you ever feel like crying because you feel so proud? Yeah well… When Soyeon said “We are the best of this generation. No one can stop us.” all I thought was, damn girl, who would DARE to stop you? The girls are unstoppable, unbelievable, unreal! They revamped this bop and made it their own. The author of this article would also like to ask Soojin to calm down and stop wrecking her bias list, thank you. Also, Mamamoo and Park Bom fangirling over (G)I-DLE will forever be my mood. We love girls supporting each other despite Mnet’s best efforts to stir the pot.
While we’re on the topic of Park Bom, the legend broke down in tears because she remembered her 2ne1 bandmates while watching the stage. She thanked (G)I-DLE for being amazing hoobaes and doing this song more than justice.
The last performance of the night was, you guessed it, Lovelyz. OK, explanation time. Mnet sent the girls envelopes. The group who chose the envelope with a picture of a lemon, had to eat a lemon. AOA, (G)I-DLE and Lovelyz got those envelopes, and Lovelyz ate the lemon the fastest, so they got to choose any song they want to cover. In the end they chose “Sixth Sense” by Brown Eyed Girls.
The styling, the choreo, their perfomance… They brought this song back and then some. Is it weird that they look bomb af with those bruises? Like, violence is never sexy, but women who go through rough time and come out on top definitely are. I wanted to say that I want to stay on their good side after this performance, but the girls showed that they have no bad sides. 360 degrees perfection. And that high note at 4:30 is what I want to hear before I die. Wow, bravo girls!
Check these Bad Bs out.
After these fire performances, it was time for Mnet to pit the contestants and their fans against each other. Oh, sorry. It was time for the girls to vote each other up or down. Boys and girls, be mad at us if you want to, but we decided not to endorse such toxic behavior and we will not be writing about this. We will, however tell you how the girls rank after this episode, but we won’t know that until the next episode.
