Original article (Aug. 20 at 12 AM KST)

Red Velvet return as reigning summer queens with their latest title track “Umpah Umpah”! It’s an up-tempo dance song with disco house rhythms. In the lyrics, the girls are telling someone who fell in love with their charms to breathe, i.e. saying “um” as they inhale and “pah” as they exhale, resulting in the catchy verse “Umpah Umpah”.

The swimming motif is present in the lyrics as well as the fun summery music video which premiered at midnight on August 20. Check it out below!

This title track is connected to Red Velvet’s previous summer hits “Red Flavor” and “Power Up”, and they even mention some of their title tracks in the lyrics of “Umpah Umpah”! The last part of the rap verse goes as follows:

Keep being dumb dumb, huh?
Curious about this re-red flavor, yeah
Happiness is nearby like ice cream cake!

Isn’t that cute? Meanwhile, ReVeluvs must be on cloud nine enjoying this new summer bop, as the hashtag #SayUmpahUmpah was trending worldwide on Twitter just moments after the MV premiere!
