Red Velvet have just snatched their first trophy for “Psycho” on the January 3 episode of KBS’ Music Bank! The group was nominated against another digital powerhouse – IU with “Blueming”.
The girls did not attend the show and are not yet to confirmed to promote on any music shows whatsoever, but their recent hit still came in first place today with 7,465 points. This is Red Velvet’s 65th trophy so far; the first one following their music show all-kill with “Umpah Umpah” last summer.
Red Velvet have also topped the Gaon Weekly Chart (from Dec. 22 to Dec. 28) with The ReVe Festival Finale, which is the No. 1 album, and “Psycho” as the most downloaded song. The title track won them a total of 69 RAKs and 44 CAKs since its release on December 23.
In addition, “Psycho” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, joining 2NE1 as the only girl groups with most entries (16 songs) in the Top 10 of this chart. It is officially the fastest song by an idol group to reach one million unique listeners on Genie in 2019 (it took Red Velvet only seven days), the only Korean song to top the Melon chart on Christmas since 2017, beating the timeless hit that is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, and the fastest song by an SMTOWN artist to reach 15 million streams on Spotify.
